The Berkeley Historical Plaque Project has received one of 50 grants awarded nationwide by the United States World War I Centennial Commission. We will be receiving $2,000, to be matched by local fundraising, to do three things. First, restore an original plaque on Berkeley’s Veteran’s War Memorial Building. Second, create a new second plaque discussing Berkeley’s history and experiences in the Great War. Third, expand our website to include information on several aspects of Berkeley during World War I.

Next year at this time we hope to be dedicating the restored plaque and the new plaque on the Centennial of the Armistice, November 11.   Visit our website www.berkeleyplaques.org and help us meet the matching grant funding.
